Interesting facts about the pantsuit and a few reasons to buy it for your wardrobe.
Let’s discuss the pantsuit and why you should consider buying this wardrobe item. Firstly, it will always stay in style, and secondly, it is functional and versatile: buying just two things, you get a lot of different combinations and looks. And, of course, a pantsuit combines men’s comfort and women’s aesthetics. There are enough arguments. Most women know this and prefer this set, creating stylish and unique looks.
I want to note that this was not always the case. For example, until recently, or rather until 1850, suits belonged only to men. That was until the activist Amelia Bloomer began to appear in society in a knee-length skirt with pantaloons underneath. Amelia believed that women should be able to dress as they please and be equal to men. But, of course, this idea caused outrage at the time and shocked others.
But a few decades later, her initiative was picked up by the then-famous French actress Sarah Bernhardt, who challenged social norms and began wearing a pantsuit, which she called her “clothes for boys.”
In the 1900s, European women finally accepted men’s suits as part of their everyday wardrobe. The famous designer Coco Chanel also deserves a lot of credit for this. She believed that men’s clothes were much more comfortable, so she wanted to free women from dresses that restricted their movements and were not comfortable enough.
In 1933, Eleanor Roosevelt was the first First Lady to wear pants to an official event at the White House. Later, we can see the pantsuit on famous actresses like Marlene Dietrich and Katharine Hepburn.
In the 1960s, the French fashion designer and founder of the fashion house of his name, André Courreges, focused on adapting men’s clothes to women’s wardrobes and introduced a women’s trouser set to his collection.
The talented Yves Saint Laurent gave the incredible sexuality and femininity of the pantsuit. In addition, he designed the first-ever tuxedo for women. His suits were adored by movie actresses, famous models, and singers.
Today we can see this wardrobe item in women everywhere. We start with glossy covers and award ceremonies and end with official meetings among women politicians. After all, this suit is not only elegant and sophisticated in appearance but also very stylish.
Of course, a pantsuit will also be appropriate in everyday life if you style it with sneakers or rugged boots and a basic T-shirt or long sleeve.
Add a romantic blouse and complement the look with low-heeled pumps to create a delicate and feminine look. The suit looks stylish and modern with a crop top or a strapless leather corset.
Another option worth noting is adding a suit vest as the first layer. You can complement this look with loafers or sneakers. Wear mules or shoes with an elongated toe for a more elegant look.
If you want something unusual, try tucking your jacket into your pants. It looks interesting and unique. And for the super bold and confident, we suggest wearing a suit on a naked body. Complement the look with an expressive choker or necklace, a small handbag, or a clutch – and a stunning evening look is ready.
And finally, another significant advantage of a pantsuit is that we can use the top or bottom separately. So you can create a lot of incredibly stylish looks with pants. And a jacket will repeatedly serve as an addition to most outfits as a top part. But this is a separate topic to which we will return.
